Sake Museum Ponshu-kan
Niigata Prefecture is blessed with good quality rice and water, making it one of the most famous rice-growing and sake-brewing regions in Japan. The prefecture also has the most number of "sakagura (sake breweries)" in Japan, and "Ponshu-kan" is a "sake amusement park" where sakes from all 88 breweries within Niigata Prefecture can be sampled. Visitors are invited to visit the museum where they may taste five cups of sake (charges apply).
