Toyama Prefecture is located virtually in the center of Japan, and is surrounded by the steep mountains and river valleys of the Northern Alps.
Though a series of connecting transportation routes, anyone can leisurely enjoy the nature of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, where you can take in the seasonal beauty of the Tateyama Mountain Range and its 3,000-meter peaks.
Toyama Bay is known as a "natural fish tank," with its fast-running water created from the 4,000 meter difference in elevation from the 3,000-meter peaks of the Tateyama Mountain Range to the 1,000-meter depths of the bay, providing nutrient-rich waters that produce a variety of delicious fish. Thanks to this steep coastal gradient, the fishing grounds are close to the port, making it easy to enjoy fresh seafood.
In addition, you will also find Toyama to be brimming with the historical and artistic appeal of Japan, such as the World Heritage Site of Gokayama village, the national treasure of Takaokasan Zuiryu-ji Temple, and traditional festivals throughout the prefecture.
