Museum on Echigo-Tsumari, MonET
Carsten Hller, Rolling Cylinder, 2012, photo Osamu Nakamura
This museum plays a central role in the Echigo Tsumari Art Field. Exposed concrete and lavish use of glass give a quiet appearance to the building, separating the peaceful interior from the noisy outside. Inside, rooms are nested inside each other, a traditional form of Japanese architecture, found in sacred places such as temples and shrines.
